Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra

Cybele Abbett moved to Southern Oregon in 1986 from the San Francisco Bay Area where she had resided for over thirty years. After a ten year career in the computer industry she decided to take some time off to stay home and raise her three children. During that time she returned to school and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a minor in studio art.

In 2003 Ms. Abbett came to work for the symphony as the Box Office Manager, Publicity, and Advertising Manager and then as a Development Associate. She returned to SOU in 2006 and received her Certificate in Non-profit Management. She has served as the Executive Director for the Rogue Valley Symphony since April 2007.

After moving to southern Oregon she became involved in city government serving on the Parks and Recreation Committee for the City of Talent. During that tenure she spearheaded a project to install a playground in Chuck Roberts Park. Her love of music and art caused her to become involved with PTA and to volunteer to teach art classes at Talent Elementary School. She has also taught art at the Willow Wind Community Learning Center in Ashland. A long time pianist, Cybele has also maintained a small piano studio for the last eight years.
